Deformed Butler–Volmer Models for Convex Semilogarithmic Current-Overpotential Profiles of Li-ion Batteries

چکیده

The Butler–Volmer (BV) equation links the current flux crossing an electrochemical interface to electric potential drop across it with assumption of Arrhenius kinetics and Boltzmann factor. Applying semilogarithmic Tafel analysis in which logarithm is plotted vs overpotential, one expects straight lines from fundamental reaction rate kinetic process can be computed. However, some Li-ion battery data, focus here, show nonlinear convex profiles that cannot adequately fitted standard BV model. We propose instead two deformed models for such types behaviors constructed superposition cells exhibiting only local equilibrium thus giving rise power-law q-exponential κ-exponential functions. Non-Boltzmann distributions have been successfully employed modeling a wide spectrum physical systems nonequilibrium situations, but not yet batteries. verify validity on experimental data obtained LiFePO4 Li–O2

Structural Identifiability of Equivalent Circuit Models for Li-Ion Batteries

Structural identifiability is a critical aspect of modelling that has been overlooked in the vast majority of Li-ion battery modelling studies. It considers whether it is possible to obtain a unique solution for the unknown model parameters from experimental data. This is a fundamental prerequisite of the modelling process, especially when the parameters represent physical battery attributes an...

Electrochemical properties of iron oxide nanoparticles as an anode for Li-ion batteries

The synthesis of iron oxide nano-particles by direct thermal decomposition was studied. Simultaneous thermal analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy results confirmed the formation of iron-urea complex, and disclosed iron oxide formation mechanism. Calcination of the iron-urea complex at 200°C and 250°C for 2 hrs. resulted in the formation of maghemite along with hematite as a seco...

Thin, flexible secondary Li-ion paper batteries.

There is a strong interest in thin, flexible energy storage devices to meet modern society needs for applications such as interactive packaging, radio frequency sensing, and consumer products. In this article, we report a new structure of thin, flexible Li-ion batteries using paper as separators and free-standing carbon nanotube thin films as both current collectors. The current collectors and ...
